It’s fantastic… Makes me respect him more… It explains a lot…
You hear all of these people he respects… and you know they took so much crap for some things…
Poor John Mellencamp is a great songwriter… and he gets ripped on all the time…
and wrongly… but that’s why I’m playing so much music… on the radio… because the songs are good… and too bad if someone doesn’t think so…

I interviewed his son Jakob once… about songwriting…
me- Jakob… what do you do if you get hung up on a song idea..
Jake- Oh … well I just put it away and come back to it…
me- But what if you come back to it and it’s not working… what do you do then…
Jake- well, if I’m having that many problems with it… I give up… and I start another song… it’s just a song man…
